Woolworths Supply Chain Scoring and Dashboarding

In 2018, Woolworths was focused on enhancing its private label strategy, particularly in response to the growing competition from other retailers. The strategy aimed to improve the perception and quality of their own brand products while maintaining competitive prices. This included refreshing the packaging to mimic national brands and emphasising value for price-conscious customers.

Woolworths also invested in sustainability initiatives, such as reducing virgin plastic packaging and promoting recyclable materials, and expanded its focus on digital and data to enhance customer experience and supply chain efficiency.

The Problem

Woolworths required a streamlined Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) landscape across its business units, supported by automated supply chain scoring and dashboarding to enhance visibility and decision-making. This initiative included integration with the global supply chain network and alignment with SAP systems to ensure seamless data flow and operational efficiency.

Additionally, a sophisticated scoring matrix was needed to evaluate combine multiple audit types, with automated order blocking mechanisms to enforce compliance and mitigate risk.

Our Solution

Addis offline Certification Body Interface enabled a straight forward uploading of facility audits and non-conformance reports, streamlining compliance and audit management processes.

MSAC’s Addis solution was able to fulfil Woolworths requirements by delivering a robust and automated framework for calculating complex and varied audit types, along with comprehensive facility-level scoring. Its seamless integration with Oracle PLM and SAP ordering systems ensured real-time data flow and operational alignment across the supply chain.

Addis also provided automated insights into total supply chain performance, supported by intuitive dashboarding tools that made monitoring and decision-making easy for users.

The Outcome

Woolworths achieved real-time supply chain scoring with global non-conformance data captured centrally, enabling immediate “stock order blocking” to prevent non-compliant products from entering the supply chain.

The solution provided both summary and detailed views across multiple supply and chain and audit types, allowing teams to monitor and address issues efficiently across regions and suppliers.

Additionally, automated trend analytics and supply chain insights empowered Woolworths to proactively identify risks, improve supplier performance, and drive continuous improvement in sourcing practices.
